It’s common truth now that many times we eat our way to deadly diseases.
They’re not just bad luck or bad genes. People, especially Americans are dying because of the lifestyles we choose to live. It’s time that we choose something different. Something empowering. A new way to live.
Part of this new life should be a new approach to food. Recently I heard someone say, “Everything causes cancer. What am I suppose to eat?”
Everything does not cause cancer. When we feel this way it is because we are overwhelmed to learn that what we thought was healthy and good for us really isn’t. We need a re-education on what to eat, how to treat our bodies, and how to live to live.
There are so many people who want to heal but just don’t know how. They weren’t taught by their parents, educators, or mentors how to live healthy and sustainable lives.
So let’s start with the basics.
There are many foods that have been linked to cancer. These are the foods we should try to avoid on a regular basis. My belief is that we should stay away from these foods all together. But do the best you can to avoid these foods in your diet. Gradually eliminate them.
5 Cancer Causing Foods to Avoid
1. Hydrogenated Oils
This is a tough one. Most of us probably think we don’t consume many hydrogenated oils. But they are everywhere! In prepackaged foods like chips, crackers, breads, and most junk foods. Buttery spreads and margarine. It’s even in foods that claim to be healthy. The good thing is they are always listed in the ingredients so it’s easy to detect them with just a little bit of reading. Hydrogenated oils are used to prolong the shelf life of foods. In addition to cancer, trans fats cause heart disease and contribute to belly fat.
This is a hard one, especially if you live in the states. Simply because we LOVE sugar. We love it so much that we put it in everything! Sugar, especially high fructose corn syrup, dominates the middle aisles. All of those shelves full of packages foods in bags and boxes. About 95 percent of these foods have sugar in them, and not whole sugar, but processed sugar, which is the worst kind.Cancer feeds on sugar. In fact if someone has cancer, sugar should be the first thing they eliminate from their diet. It keeps cancer alive and makes the body acidic, which is the perfect environment for cancer or any disease to thrive. Stop using dessert as a reward. Find more nourishing ways to reward yourself.
3. Food Additives
MSG, artificial sweeteners, sodium nitrate, red 3 — all of these should be avoided like the plague. It should be easy to do since you’re working on eliminating packaged foods. These additives are added to candy, microwaved foods, canned foods, and processed meats like hot dogs in order to give them a longer shelf life, a sweeter taste, and a pretty color. I’ll take a healthy body over all of these supposed benefits of the cancer-causing additives. Stick to the produce section of the grocery store. Buy organic whenever possible. Recently linked to breast cancer, dairy is not as healthy as we’ve been lead to believe. The “got milk” campaign was cute, but misleading. Casein, which makes up almost 90 % of the protein in milk has been shown to promote all stages of cancer. Milk and cheeses are also high in saturated fats, which may increase cancer risk. And don’t forget all of the added hormones that our ancestors weren’t exposed to in their dairy products. There are so many dairy alternatives, it’s best to avoid dairy altogether. Although no studies have been done to date, I alway see a link between the treatment of the animals producing the dairy and cancer risk. Emotions cause cancer too, and when we consume milk and dairy from animals who are cared for under stressful conditions, we’re consuming that stress as well. Sound farfetched? Every mother knows the quality of her breast milk is affected by stress and negative emotions. Why would animals be any different? The meat industry has been under fire a lot in the past few decades. And they’re very protective of their reputation in the whole does meat cause cancer question. Many studies show there is indeed a link between cancer and meat consumption. Also, every person I know and have researched who healed their cancer naturally, gave up meat entirely. Pesticides, growth hormones, antibiotics and other dangerous additives make meat a not so healthy protein to consume on a regular basis. Also, cancer thrives in an acidic environment and meat makes the body acidic. It also slows the digestive process and causes toxins to linger in the body longer than they should. In my opinion, anything that prevents the body from self-cleansing should be avoided. Meat has been linked to so many diseases, it’s hard to see the benefits of eating it at all. But if you’re not quite ready to give it up yet, definitely go organic or find a farm where you can buy meat from directly.
