Now, Skye and I eat them all of the time. I can eat them by themselves, on sandwiches, over rice. They are so delicious.
Besides being great to eat, avocados are great to use in skin and hair treatments. They beautiful the hair and skin when you eat them with plenty of fatty acids. But using them on the outside has great benefits too.
I haven’t seen anything soften the skin the way avocados can. In fact, I’m going to share with you a great skin softening recipe that uses the avocado.
Avocado Skin Scrub
- avocado pit (the big seed in the middle)
- 1/2 avocado
- 1/4 cup of cornmeal
- 1 TB sea salt
Cut an avocado and scoop out the meat. Use the meat in a recipe immediately or eat by itself. It’s delicious with a drizzle of olive oil and some sea salt. Take the avocado pit/seed and set it out for a couple of days until it dries out. Use a food processor or coffee grinder to grind the avocado pit into small pieces. Combine the avocado pit with the cornmeal and sea salt. Add the avocado flesh. Mash all of the ingredients together.
You can massage the mixture onto dry feet and shower off. Or, if you really want a deeper exfoliation, soak feet in warm water for at least 10 minutes. Then massage the mixture into feet slowly, using circular motions. You want to give extra attention and scrub to the heels and any other areas prone to developing dry or crack skin and callouses.
This mixture works miracles on the skin and it’s gentle and all natural. Use it whenever your feet need an extra umph!
This scrub isn’t just good for the feet. You can use it on the entire body to soften and nourish your skin.
