Serena Williams is on the cover of the July issue of Essence Magazine. In fact, she’s guest editor of this issue names, “Body Issue.”
Considered the number one female pro tennis player, Serena has had her share of health issues with a pulmonary embolism two years ago. But she says she’s recovering well and in better shape than ever.
Serena is so unconventional, especially for the game of tennis. She’s super curvy and quite muscular. She’s such a great example that it’s great to be healthy even if your body doesn’t fit the mainstream standards of beauty.
It’s important to realize that loving your body doesn’t start with exercise or eating the right foods. Loving your body starts with your relationship with yourself. Your must believe that you are worthy of love before you can actively start loving yourself.
Here’s what Serena has to say about her body image:
“It can be a bit weird,” she admits. “Before it was, ‘Serena has a big butt,’ and that was all. Now there are way more people who feel comfortable with themselves and they’re saying, ‘I’m a woman, and this is what I look like.’ I always say, ‘We’re popular now! We’re finally in style!'”
I’m looking forward to reading the entire article!
