For most of my life, I’ve suffered with anemia. I never liked red meat. When I was younger, I didn’t know about all of the great herbs you could take like yellow dock and red raspberry leaf to raise iron levels.
I took the standard iron pills recommended by my doctor and was still anemic. The iron pills never seemed to make a difference. Now, I do a pretty good job of keeping my levels up with natural foods.
However, during my pregnancies, I tend to struggle with my iron levels again. It’s hard for me to maintain a consistently good level of iron in my blood. This makes my energy levels plummet and puts me at risk of having to deliver in a hospital rather than at home or in a birthing center.
One thing I’ve noticed is that blackstrap molasses really helps me get my iron levels up and it works really fast.
Check out these recipes I use to get blackstrap molasses down on a regular basis.
- 2 cups of almond milk
- 2 TBS Blackstrap Molasses
- 2 TBS raw cacao
- 1/2 cup of ice
- 1 banana
Mix all ingredients in a high powered blender.
Drink and enjoy!
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 TBS blackstrap molasses
Stir 1 TBS of blackstrap molasses into milk. Voila. Simple and quick to make. Drink and enjoy!
