Vomitting. Diarrhea. Stomach aches. These do not contribute to your dream vacation. These are things you don’t want to experience while you’re traveling. Talk about uncomfortable and inconvenient!
Recently, we traveled to Costa Rica and I had an arsenal of holistic remedies just in case any of us came down with food poisoning. Luckily we only had to use my magic tricks once when we all experienced some diarrhea. but that’s usually to be expected when your in a foreign land and eating foreign foods that your body is not use to.
Keep in mind, food poisoning, vomiting, and diarrhea are all signs that your body has labeled something you ate or drunk as a foreign invader. These inconvenient and gross bodily functions is your immune system’s way of purging the body of the toxin.
These three things will help you avoid food poisoning while traveling abroad.
It’s great to take garlic supplements everyday while you’re traveling abroad. Garlic is antibacterial and antiviral. It kills just about anything and can give your immune system the boost it needs to keep you healthy while traveling. It’s great for preventing food poisoning or any bad reactions to anything in an unfamiliar environment. I even took garlic to prevent malaria when I traveled to Ghana. It worked great. Garlic is much better that the antibiotics, which can cause sun allergies, hallucination, and liver damage.
This is a great supplement to have in your bag for when you actually come down with food poisoning, stomach aches, or diarrhea. Activated Charcoal neutralizes toxins in the stomach and digestive tract. It has no negative side effects and the benefits are almost immediate. This is definitely a much have when traveling abroad.
When you first arrive in a new country, drink bottled water. Give your body some time to adjust to the new environment. Even first world countries may have different elements in the water that your system just is not accustomed to. Also, if you do get sick, try to get as much purified water down as possible. The body needs to purge and nothing helps it does that better than water. You will not want to drink water if you’re sick, but push past the discomfort with the knowledge that you’ll recover quicker if you are well hydrated.
