I went to the store recently and walked pass the apple sauce. It seemed like such a great healthy snack to have on hand for Skye.
However, the apple sauce had some questionable ingredients in them like asorbic acid and sugar. Also the expiration dates were months from now. So it was obvious that the apple sauce wasn’t fresh.
I thought there must be an easy apple sauce recipe I could make for Skye that would be much healthier.
Well I saw this simple, delicious recipe on facebook and thought I would share it with you.
It comes from the website, Raw on $10 a Day (or Less). This site has some great, simple raw recipes. Check them out!
- 6 apples, peeled, cored and chopped
- 8 dates (soaked if necessary)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
In a food processor fitted with an “S” blade, process all ingredients until mostly smooth and saucy. Let it go a little longer if you like smoother applesauce, and less if you’re in the mood for chunky. That’s it. Any leftovers will keep in the refrigerator for up to three days.
