We arrived in Costa Rica at 1 a.m. Tired. Our first flight had a two hour delay and we barely made our connecting flight. Skye slept the entire first flight. And played and fussed the entire second flight. So by the time we arrived in Costa Rica, we were ready to flop into the bed.
Entering the country was pretty easy. Because we had Skye with us, they let us skip the line so we didn’t have to wait. Customs was short and sweet.
We didn’t check luggage. I find when traveling international, it’s best to pack light and carry on so you don’t have to worry about lost bags or anything.
When we walked outside about 10 people approached us about a taxi. We nodded yes and was ushered over to a taxi. We showed the taxi driver the address on my iPhone and away when went. Oddly the address for Hotel Ringle does not have a number. It simply states, Alto de las Palomas, Santa Ana, San Jose, Costa Rica. So our taxi driver was confused and kept calling into his office to try to get the address. I wish we’d seen this beforehand and we could have asked the hotel for some specific directions from the airport.
Anywho, the driver eventually found it. It took us about 20 minutes to get there from the airport. We drove past it several times because it was so dark. We eventually asked a guard who was standing outside of another place and he pointed us in the right direction. Hotel Ringle has excellent security with a gate surrounding the property and a guard at the entrance. The guard let us in and informed us that the hotel manager had left for the night but he let us into a room. Whew! Next time well be sure to let them know when we plan to arrive very late at night.
When we finally got into our room, it was perfect! Two queen beds, a flat screen, free wifi, and a beautiful bathroom with a rain shower. It even had an ipod dock.
We put our stuff down, dropped into the bed and went right to sleep.
The next morning when I was in the restroom getting ready, I saw two double doors that looked like they led to a larger room. I yelled this out to hubby and he said the security guard said not to go in there. Well… Hahaha. My mind interpreted this as “feel free to explore.” So I opened up the doors and there was a beautiful room with a queen bed, couch and a balcony, which had the most amazing view. I assume you could rent the two adjoining rooms as a suite with the attached bathroom. It was very nice!
Once we were dressed, we went in search for breakfast. We missed the complimentary breakfast, but the hotel manager said the chef put some food away for us.
How very thoughtful!
It was a continental breakfast with fresh fruit, orange juice, tea or coffee, and toast.
It was great. We really enjoyed our stay at Ringle Resort. We loved it so much that we stayed there three more times when we were passing through San Jose. It was a nice taste of luxury after staying in more rustic places in some of the more rural parts of the country. We always looked forward to returning to our rainshower!
Ringle Resort ended up being our favorite place to stay in Costa Rica. The hotel managers are professional, kind, and helpful. The view is amazing. The location is convenient. And the food was good!
