Homemade Baby Food: Skye Eating Sweet Potatoes
Description: It is so easy and inexpensive to make your own baby food. I prefer to know exactly what my daughter is eating at this early stage in her development. And I think homemade babyfood is much better for her than baby food with artificial ingredients and that has been over-pasteurized and sitting on a shelf for 6 months or longer.
The recipe for the Sweet Potatoes is:
– 1 organic cooked sweet potato
– 1 cup of purified water (or breastmilk or formula)
Mix ingredients together in the Baby Bullet (or food processor or blender). And it’s ready to serve.
Sweet Potatoes and Avocado are Skye’s first foods. She is 10 months old, and we were hoping to exclusive breastfeed for 12 months, but she started showing an obvious interest in food. So we wanted to be flexible and listen to her needs.
The main reason we knew she was ready for food is because every time she saw us eating she would throw a bit of a tantrum. She would start reaching for our foods and crying. I would breastfeed her, but she still showed a significant interest in our food. She also is putting everything in her mouth, and even swallowing if we don’t catch her in time. She ate a tiny piece of my bank statement the other day. Before, she would just chew or chew on everything.
So we decided to feed her one meal per day at lunch time. She still nurses in the morning and evening. this way, we introduce solids to her very slowly. She loves them so far. When I try to give her just a spoon or two, she reaches and hollers for more. So I’m glad we decided to start with solids now.
