I just did a 7 Day Fast. I loved it! The first two days were torture, but after day 3, it was smooth saying. Watch me Vlog about it.
When it was time for me to break the fast, I knew eating a large leafy green salad would help me transition back into food safely. I did so much good stuff for my digestive system during the fast/detox, I didn’t want to mess it up now.
For the salad
- dark leafy greens (I buy the organic mixed salad from wholefoods, a health coop, or my local farmer’s market)
- kalamata olives
- 1 TB ground flaxseeds
- 1 TB chia or hemp seeds
For the salad dressing
- 1/3 cup of olive oil (extra-virgin, cold pressed)
- 1/3 cup of apple cider vinegar.
- 2 TB of fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 tsp of ginger powder
- 1 TB of grounded, dried italian herbs
- 1 pinch of cayenne pepper
- sea salt to taste
Wash the green leafy veggies and place in salad bowl. Chop the tomatoes, cucumbers, and avocados. Throw them in the salad bowl. Place olives, hemp (or chia) seeds, and grounded flaxseeds in the bowl. Mix everything together.
For the salad dressing, place all of the ingredients in mason jar. Tighten the lid. Dance! Shake the jar! (My daughter loves this part).
Pour salad dressing over salad and enjoy!
Why is this a Detox Salad?
This is the perfect salad for detoxing! The leafy greens continue to cleanse the digestive system. The lemon detoxes the liver. The olive oil lubricates the colon, and the flaxseeds provide fiber; this is the perfect combination for having a big, cleansing bowel movement. Hemp or chia seeds provide extra omega nutrients for more cleansing power. Cayenne improves circulation, which cleanses the blood and lymphatic system.
