“Love makes your soul crawl out from it’s hiding place.” Zora Neale Hurston
Love isn’t just about warm and fuzzy feelings for another person. I believe love heals us in ways we never expect.
I’ve experienced great loving relationships, and relationships that were quite painful. Whether they ended in a broken heart or marriage, they had one thing in common. They showed me parts of myself that I’d long forgotten about. They even revealed parts of me that I didn’t know were there. As the Zora Neale Hurston quote suggests, love has the powerful ability to ignite our souls.
What does this mean?
Love, whether it breaks us or repairs us, it’s always healing us. If we can forgive, learn the lessons, and let go at the right time, love will lead us to living life more and more as our true selves. Love makes us vulnerable. It strips away our ego and our pride. All that is left is our real, unfiltered, unmasked self.
It is not until we can see ourselves as we truly are that we can live authentic and fulfilling lives.
