“It is only through order that greater things are born.” ~ The Wisdom of the Taoists
I was a little shocked when I first saw this quote.
I am used to seeing creativity as the mother of great things. But this quote was recognizing order in the birth of great things.
I think this is something a lot of people striving for success miss in their pursuit. We don’t only need great ideas to reach success, we need an orderly way to execute our ideas. Without order, it’s hard to get much achieved. However, order needs to be balanced. Too much order can prevent creativity from surfacing.
By keeping creativity and order in balance, one can reach great heights. In fact, I believe when a person respects the role of both of these elements, nothing can stop them from getting exactly what they want.
Usually when I see a person struggling to accomplish something, they’re out of balance with order and creativity. I usually see very creative people who won’t acknowledge the importance of order in fear that they will lose their creativity. Or I see very orderly people who won’t let go enough to allow new ideas and innovation into their pursuits. Either way, this lack of balance can paralyze your efforts and keep you from progressing the way you were meant to.
Learn to accept that both are vital.
If you’re at a standstill, consider whether you need to let go a little more and let creativity in. Also, check to see if there’s a system in place to implement your creative idea.
Like I said, once you have both, there’s no limit to what you can achieve.
