“You’re here to wake up.” ~Michael Beckwith
Well, what the heck does that mean? If my eyes are open, then I’m awake, right?
Being awake isn’t about opening your physical eyes. It’s about opening your insight and inner awareness. It’s the eye behind the eyes that needs to be open. And these eyes are guided by the heart.
It’s amazing how many people today walk around with their hearts closed but wonder why life isn’t working out the way they want it to. They wonder why they don’t feel happy. Well, happiness and joy can only be felt with the heart. You can’t close off your heart to pain but open it only for the good feelings. And this is why most people’s hearts are closed. Something painful or traumatic happened to them and they decided it just wasn’t worth it to feel. Maybe a they lost a loved one or got their heart broken. Maybe they were abused by someone they trusted or betrayed by a loved one.
Please understand that until you allow all feelings to flow through you, you can’t have the good ones. When we deny how we feel, we remain asleep.
A friend of mine just lost a loved one. We spoke yesterday and he said every time he feels sad, he feels a burst of energy and then the sadness disappears. We’re so afraid of negative feelings, but as soon as we surrender to them, they dissipate. They don’t stay forever.
So commit yourself to feeling all of who you are. Show up for yourself and in the world. Life is full and abundant when we are awake to live it. Live your life now.
